Objectives:
1. Students will be able to correctly determine the 3-Dimensional Shape of a molecule by analyzing its Lewis Structure and consulting the VSEPR chart.
2. Students will be able to determine if a molecule is polar or non-polar based on its molecular geometry.
Warm-Up:
1. What is polarity? What are the two causes leading to polarity?
2. Would the following molecules be polar or non-polar? Why? (hint- remember to start with a correctly drawn Lewis Structure)
NH4+ HCl PI3
Daily Plan:
1st Half of Class
1. Go Over Molecular Geometry and Polarity Practice
2nd Half of Class
2. Activity- Building Molecular Models Lab
3. Review- Fall Semester Final Exam Review Guide Part 1
Fall Semester Final Exam Review Guide Part 1 KEY
Fall Semester Final Exam Review Guide Part 2 KEY
Homework:
1. Complete Molecular Models Lab (E.O.P. 12/10)
2. Complete HWQ- Chemical Compounds by midnight (12/12)
3. Complete HWQ- Molecular Geometry and Polarity by midnight (12/19)
