Monday, March 23rd, 2026 (7 PERIOD DAY)

Objectives
1. Students will be able to calculate a Percent Yield for a chemical reaction via stoichiometry.
2. Students will determine the percent yield of a product they produce via a laboratory investigation.

Warm-Up:

Part 1Classify, predict the product(s), and balance the reaction below:
                                     ____  Mg  +  ____  P  -->

Click here for the products of the chemical reaction.
Click here for the coefficients for the balanced chemical reaction.

Part 2- Percent Yield Stoichiometry

When the reaction above was carried out in the laboratory, 35.80 g of Magnesium (24.31 g/mol) was reacted with excess Phosphorous (30.97 g/mol).  The percent yield for the product (134.87 g/mol) was found to be 78.20 %.  What was the actual yield?

(hint- Start by calculating the theoretical yield like a typical percent yield question).

Daily Plan:

1. Q and A over Percent Yield Lab

2. Activity- Work on Percent Yield Lab

3. Activity- Work on HWQ's

Homework:
1. Complete HWQ- Mass to Mass Stoichiometry by midnight (tonight)
2. Complete Percent Yield Lab (E.O.P. 3/24 and 3/25)
3. Complete HWQ- Percent Yield Stoichiometry by midnight (3/30)
